Blessed.

Boo!  Its like I've been hiding and now I'm going to surprise you from around the corner! (sorry Amber for all those times I scared you)  I bet you were wondering when I would post again.  Life has been hectic.  Surprised?  I think not.  I am NEARLY done my third year.  All I have to do is finish my last paper!  I have four pages done...four more to go.  I'm done all my other final tests and stuff...its such a good feeling!

So here are some photos to catch you all up on my life.  I'll start with the oldest first...

These are the aprons my sister-in-law and I made over Christmas.

January- Justin and I in Cuba...such an amazing trip!

February
I made some headbands for my little niece!  We had seen one at a baby store for $10.  I made three for $4!

My cute niece!

March
Here's some herb bread I made last week.  We ate it with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Delicious!

So Justin and I were watching Amazing Race and in one challenge they had to dress up like Babushkas so we decided to dress up Beatrix as one.  We were laughing at her, and then she just rested her head against me, as if to say: "sigh, I put up with so much..."

The quilt I made!  It got sold tonight at an auction for $60!

April
Yesterday I tackled my tub yet once again (my first post in this blog was about cleaning my tub).  I could never get off the grime, so I decided to try the Mr. Clean power eraser.  That thing is amazing!  I had tried bleach, vinegar, scrubbing....and the eraser was the only thing that could get it off!  The difference isn't that obvious in these photos...but I sure notice!

BEFORE

AFTER

My outfit from tonight!  Justin and I each had banquets tonight so we both went solo.  Its so weird not having a date.  Here is my outfit.

I tried curling my hair, and it actually worked this time!  I am so excited about my life.  Nearly done with my school for the summer, seeing my parents on Tuesday, finding out if Justin gets a job (he had an interview last Wed.), traveling to Seattle this summer...and so much more!  I feel so blessed.

goodmorning, sunshine!

Ok, so the sun isn't really shining that bright this morning, its a little overcast out...but that doesn't mean we can't shine!  We just enjoyed homemade egg mcmuffins at 7:30AM on this Saturday!  Why do kids have to get up at 6:45, even on the weekend?  Oh well!  I don't have much planned today, other than cleaning up the house, and starting to work on my slipcover for our wingback chair.  We'll see how that goes!

Yesterday we got out and enjoyed the sun at Sehmel Homestead Park in Gig Harbor.  It was so much fun - they have an awesome playground and Shea ran and went down slides the entire time.  I also ran into one of my three year olds and his mom there, so that was fun!  Caleb (the boy in my class), was really shy about seeing me and every time he accidentally ran into me would bolt the other way.  So funny.

Then we went grocery shopping and stopped by the thrift store, intending to find a travel high chair to leave at my mom's house (no luck, so far).  I found some like-new American Eagle jeans that fit perfectly, though!  I have been in so much need of jeans lately - they all have rips or are worn out at the knee from Preschool and having a son, so at least I have one pair now in good condition.

Anyway, whether you girls are working, doing housework, schoolwork, or just relaxing with your family, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Update - 11:04 AM

PHEW!   I am still in my pajamas, on my third cup of tea, and here is my progress on the slipcover.   I would like to just keep on working on it, but Jeremy is gone at an outreach event and Shea is sleeping, so I need to take a shower while he's in bed!

Here is where I was at about an hour ago:

And now, I have one side finished, the back finished, and just have the arm to do on the left side.  Much harder work than I thought it would be!  And I think i have to live with it being a little wrinkly looking and be OK with the fact that this is my first slipcover, and I'm sure I will be making a new one for this chair at some point in time.

and here I am in my pajamas and bed head (the picture was really orange-y, so I changed the colors...i do not really live in a sepia toned reality).

A busy day and then an annoying trip home.

This is what I should be doing right now, cleaning and organizing, vacuuming and getting the bathrooms looking all pretty but instead I am blogging. Oh well. haha.

Work was busy in a weird way last night. Wednesdays are always crazy because the nurse I replace has to leave at 2:30 to go to the medication cart instead of the normal 5pm to go home since she is working a double shift. Anyway, she works two 16 hour shifts in a row and she is usually tired by the second ones, on wednesday, so I always try to help her out. For some reason we didn't get our doctors calls and orders back until 5:15pm (after office hours for the Dr office) and we had to get the floors cleaned behind the nurses station so I had no "home" for an hour and a half and had to run around outside the nurses station listening through the noise of the cleaner to see if the phone rang. And we had about 1.5 hours worth of inservice. So it was a weird busy crazy day and I was tired.

I ended up getting to leave about 10 minutes early because of how change of shift worked out and I was so excited. I got in my car, drove 20 out of the 30 minutes home and felt my scrubs pocket randomly only to find my work keys still in there. So I had to turn around, drive back to work, drop off keys and then drive all the way home. So instead of getting home at about 11:25 I got home at after midnight and I was not too happy to say the least. At least my hubby had the bed all warmed up and was waiting to cuddle me. :)

Have a fabulous thursday girls!

readjustment

We've been busy!

Last night after I posted, Jeremy got a call and went to pick up a guy he's been working with who got kicked out of the place he's been staying.  So he came over and spent the night up in our rec room.  This morning we were able to scrounge up some clothes that were too big for Jeremy and pass them on to him, and we both went out to work.  Once I got home from work (which even though it was a fun day, I felt so messy because I was sick and crampy and just threw on whatever I could find that was comfortable), we had worship practice, and then my mom and I were "interviewed" for a video montage thingy for mother's day.  Talk about an awkward video.  I had like NO idea what to say and I look completely awkward on the video because Jeremy was making faces at me the whole time off camera.

Anyway, I'm sure that will be embarrassing.

Soo...since Angela shared that veggie burger recipe, and I happened to have pretty much all of the ingredients, I made it!  I only had to run out to get the cilantro, and I used red beans instead of black beans.  It was super good!  But my food processor was too small for the recipe, so I had to make it in batches.  Definitely going to be making that again - paired with whole wheat bread, a salad, and some fresh fruit makes a yummy and healthy meal!  I've never had a veggie burger before, and we're not vegetarian, but we don't buy meat very often so I think I'll be making these again!

So..between the video and the making of the veggie burgers, we went out to the grocery store, and ended up running into the guy who spent the night last night.  We still had his stuff, so Jeremy asked him what he was up to and it sounded like he had another place to stay.  Jeremy offered to run home and get his stuff for him if he could wait.  So we go home and I start making dinner while Jer goes back out.  Then I get a phone call.  This was the beginning of my poor attitude.  Jeremy asked if not only this guy, but also his twin brother, could spend the night tonight.  What am I going to say?  "No, they have to sleep outside of the abandoned building they found?"  Of course not!  So I just said to do whatever he felt was right.  He said they would walk over later.  At least we would have our dinner together, I thought.  Since all of my plans (working out, playing minecraft, etc) were "ruined" last night due to this guy, I was really looking forward to our family dinner, watching a dvd with my husband, and relaxing.  Next thing I know, Jeremy is home, and the guy steps out of the car.  I literally almost broke into tears.  I just wanted a nice dinner with my family.

But I also want people in my home to be welcomed as if they are part of my family.

So I stood in the kitchen and kind of gave my husband the slightly silent treatment.  I didn't want to start crying or sound upset by talking and make our guest feel like he was imposing.  I kind of got over it, but there is a part of me that is still really disappointed right now, as I type this downstairs and listen to Jeremy and Derek(the guy) play minecraft upstairs.  I am happy that we are able to help this guy out for a few nights, I am so thrilled to share dinner and our family and set a godly example for him, but I so was looking forward to our quiet evening together after having a week of so much company and events.  And now, I honestly just want to go to bed.  I don't know what else to do.  My husband kind of has to hang out with Derek for the evening and all I can really do is...clean.  Which I don't really want to do right now.

I'm sure it isn't helping that I'm kind of emotional and sick this week anyway.

Oh dear.  I'm glad that at least God understands me and I know I'll get to see my husband eventually.  And I'm so thankful that by His grace I was able to snap out of it and be hospitable.  We did have a nice dinner and Shea was so cute when we were praying!  We always hold hands when we pray and as soon as we told Shea we were going to pray, he mumbles something that sounds very similar to "dear Jesus" and then "Amen" and after he says that he lets go of our hands.  We all looked at each other in disbelief, but then he did it 3 more times in a row exactly the same!  It warmed my heart and amazed me again at how much he knows and can do.

Thanks for reading my ramblings, it'll be a few hours before I get much of a chance to talk to my hubby, so I needed to let it out somewhere!

I work today but...

I would rather be at home making this, or this, or this, with these and some tea or coffee for dessert.

Yum

aaaah.

Ok, maybe a little bit of an exaggeration on my emotions, but...officially, our taxes are filed (as in waiting in an addressed envelope to be mailed)!  Including our first estimated tax payment for this year.  Everything is scanned, filed, and orderly.  I feel good and on top of paperwork finally.

And now I am going to go work out and play our new little computer-game indulgence: MineCraft.  We don't really ever play games of any sort (PC or system, so its kind of funny that we bought this and are obsessed with it).  Unless I get too tired and decide to go to bed, because I have been fighting off a sore throat/cold thing this week.

Anyway, I hope to post something of substance some time soon - I just can't seem to justify blogging when I have so much to get done!  I'm sure you girls feel the same way - at least Angela is supplying us with some reading material and fun pictures to look at!
