The past few days have been full of fun! Thursday we went to the kids museum on Bainbridge Island with Tawny and her kids. Afterward, we grabbed lunch and had a picnic at a nearby park. After we got home, I put the kiddos to bed and cleaned up as much as I could before my friend, Olivia, came over. She is pregnant and having a baby boy at the end of October. And people who thought I was small should see this girl - she is almost 27 weeks and is probably the size I was at 15 weeks. But, she does run like 7 miles every day.
Saturday my sister came over! I haven't seen her since before Hailey was born, because she has been in Japan for the whole month of July. She came in the morning and stayed all day. I made some crepes and coffee, and then we went out and walked by the waterfront in downtown Poulsbo and looked at the shops. We came home for lunch and naps and drank Sangria (my FAVORITE mixed drink which I made) and relaxed for a few hours. Then it was so hot in the house we decided to head to the mall. I didn't buy anything, but it was fun to actually go in stores and look at things - Jeremy doesn't do that with me (at least not at the stores we went in) - and not have to deal with both kids by myself. We ended with a picnic at the park near the ferry. I love these cool, summer evenings. Although, lately our house has been so hot at night, that we have been going to my in-laws and putting Shea to bed while we watch Breaking Bad (our new show we are addicted to) on their netflix. Been nice, except we get to bed way too late!
After church on Sunday we headed up to Brinnon (near the Olympic National Forest, about an hour from our house) with Jeremy's parents, his brother and wife and their kids, and two other families from church. There is this somewhat secret spot up there with a waterfall you can swim up to. It was so much fun! Lots of rocks for kids to climb and a smaller pool for them to wade it. It was so nice and cool too, because it is shaded and the mist coming off the waterfall feels so good. I got a chance to jump in with Jeremy. The water was freezing cold, but it felt so good and is so clear and clean - I LOVE this spot. We went there when we were first married. The second picture is actually from 5 years ago.
I'm glad we can still go out and do fun things like this! And today Shea got to go play at Tawny's house with the kids. After lunch, we went down to the beach for a little bit.
AMBER AND ANGELA: Do either of you have a free week day coming up? I am planning on making a trip out - just me and the kids - to visit some people up in Renton, and if you are around, I would love to stop by and visit for a little bit (I'm thinking like afternoon or evening, on my way home)! I was thinking of coming this Thursday or Friday, but could come next week instead if it means I can visit with you :)
Sounds like you have had a great few days. I love knowing about 'secret spots' it's nice that you guys were able to cool off and spend all that time together. It's hot here too and that water looks so refreshing right now!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been having so much fun! I love that little waterfall spot, Paul and I will definitely have to go there. Brinnon is where we like to go clamming. In fact we stayed in a super sketchy horror movie type motel there one time. We hadn't planned on spending the night and didn't have a change of clothes, the water drizzled out of the shower, and we didn't have a toothbrush.
ReplyDeleteOHHHHHH and I am free both Thursday and Friday, so we will have to see what Amber is up to if it will work for her!
ReplyDeleteLet me get back to you tomorrow!
