I LOVE day shift!

So I have only worked two day shifts, and I have been floated off the floor both of the days, but it has been wonderful.  I am a morning person, and I didn't realize how much working evening shift affected me.  I don't need as much sleep anymore, I don't need naps (though I do love them still), I love being home by 4pm, I just love it.

Though I haven't been working much this last week I have been busy.  Paul and I had two days off together and had fun just hanging out, enjoying each other, eating too much, and playing cribbage.

I made these easy oreo truffles, I figure you can't go wrong with something that has that many good reviews. Now I am not sure I would go out and buy all the ingredients to make these, it seems too expensive, but I had cream cheese and oreos sitting around the house and needed to use them (the oreos were starting to taste a little stale). I also made this white chicken chili and it was amazing!  I have some in the freezer that I am excited to use for dinner in the up coming week. :)

I have still been decorating around here when I come up with little ideas.  I just can't seem to stop!  I love getting Christmas cards, and our wall continues to grow.  We got 4 more today that haven't been hung :).  I have been seeing people washi tape prints to the wall in the blogs I read and alwasy thought it was crazy (because the prints were like $20 each!) but I loved how it looked.  So I printed some prints from the library and put them up, I am in love. :)

Yesterday I got a call at 5:35am from work asking me to pick up a day shift.  I didn't pick up the phone and didn't call back, I was tired.  I was having a guilt trip though because I haven't been working that much and I had a lot of energy, but I put the day to good use.  I did laundry, vacuumed, cleaned three bathrooms, made soup for dinner, ran errands at joannes-eyebrow place-target-goodwill-safeway-fred meyer- and the library, phew!  Then I resolved the carpets where they looked bad (why did I not clean the carpets months ago?!), decorated a little bit, and then I watched a little tv and waited for Paul to get home.

Paul and I went and picked up a bunch of his childhood toys at Steve and Kathy's old house the other day.  Paul has wayyyy more toys than I ever thought and way more than he remembers.  (Joe has even more, I feel for you Amber!).  I am lucky though because Paul wants to sell a lot and save the favorites.  So glad he is not a hoarder, it would kill my ocd with organizing and cleaning.

I did put a few of my (and Paul's) favorite toys on display in the closet and I love walking in there and seeing them.

More cooking and drinking. Coffee with homemade whipped cream (from the container like starbucks uses) and italian sodas, yum yum.   The oreo truffles are on the left and I made Apple donuts on the right.  The apple donuts were yummy, but didn't rise as much as they were supposed to and were a little time consuming, so they probably won't be made again.

I have also been crafting (surprise I know) and have already been using my [early] Christmas present.  I got a Silhouette Cameo during an awesome black friday online deal and it is absolutely amazing.  I have been wanting one for a long time but never wanted to spend $300, thank goodness for sales!  The new Christmas stocking tabs were my first real project. Below are some of my newest library prints and fun stuff.  To the bottom right are some awesome drawings Paul did when he was like 10.  I made a notebook of all of Pauls school journals, drawings, report cards, and stuff.  I love that Kathy saved it all and that it only took me a few hours to contain it all to one notebook instead of two messy boxes.

And this was an instagram picture.  This was an awesome evening full of too much sugar, hanging with my love, and watching an awesome movie (that we bought at Costco because we didn't want to wait for the library).  So glad we bought it because I LOVED it more than I would have imagined.  I see a Christmas tradition in our future.

That is the end.  I can't wait to see you girls this Holiday season.  Love you all!

  1. I'm so glad you got the day shifts! that is awesome. i remember when jeremy and I both got "regular" jobs with the normal weekday schedules, it was AMAZING to not work evenings anymore. I'm glad someone is still posting, haha. I have had so many moments this month where I have wanted to write a post, but I always have a million and three things to do (as my husband pointed out to me yesterday, I like to start too many projects) and never get to it.

I haven't seen the washi tape for christmas cards thing, but that's what I started doing on one of our closet doors, too. ha.

Your tags and holiday treats are leaving me drooling.
