a super day off!

Shea and his cousin Jon being super heroes this evening.  It is so cute hearing Shea say  in his little voice, "I'm a super hero, mama!"

Well!  I finally got a break from work (for a day).  My boss scheduled basically everyone for 40+ hours this week, and I've already worked two 10 hour shifts in the past three days.  I have another ten hour shift tomorrow (11 - 9) and I have to work on Sunday from 3-9:30.  The hours are good since they are closing the store for 4 days next week to do the remodel and I won't get many hours at the Poulsbo store, but I would be lying to say that  I am not looking forward to having a few days off!

This week seems to basically have been spent at work, but I did accomplish a few things!

I had Sunday and Monday off this past week.  Sunday my side of the family came over for dinner and we celebrated my brother and sister's birthdays.  It was nice, but I'm always kind of happy when everyone leaves because my family can be a bit overwhelming at times.  I like them in small doses. haha.

Monday was BEAUTIFUL!  Jeremy and I finally got outside and worked in the yard a little bit.  I did another coat of paint on our dining room table (don't have a pic yet), but still need to do a protective top coat.  I wish I had done it today, but I haven't bought the paint yet.  We started moving some plants around, digging out some bricks to rearrange our garden beds, and I planted some herbs on my potting shelf.  We'll see how they do!  I'm a bit skeptical, because I'm really not a gardener, but am trying to make myself one by the summer.

I also was able to finish this book for Shea on Shutterfly:

They send me a free photo book at least once a year, so I was able to throw this together after a few nights of working on it this week.  We got it today and Shea had SO much fun reading it with me.  I know it will be a favorite to look back at when we are all older, too.  Hopefully I can keep up the tradition with Hailey as well!  I have a big project ahead of me getting all of our photos organized so that we can enjoy our memories as they grow.

Wednesday when I got to work I realized that my work keys were missing off of my key ring!  I thought that maybe Jeremy had taken them off for some reason, but he hadn't.  Turns out they somehow fell off at the bank on my way into work, and thank God, someone turned them in and I picked them up the next day.  I was fa-reaking out - it had keys to all three stores on it and I did NOT want to have to pay for the replacement.

Today was beautiful again!  My friend Mia came over for a visit with Devin.  The boys played and Mia and I caught up.  After lunch (I made tillapia filets over quinoa and Mia brought a salad) we took a walk on the beach with the boys.  The tide was so far out and it got so warm while we were out!  I cannot WAIT for summer and to be down at the beach all the time.

Once we got home, Shea went down for a nap and Mia and Devin headed back home.  Jeremy came home from work and we watched the last episode of Downton Abbey on netflix.  YES we both got hooked on Sunday night and watched an episode (or two) every night after I got home from work.  I wish the second season was on netflix!  My co-worker told me they are filming a third season too.  Thank you Angela and Candice for recommending it, it was so fun to have a show we both enjoyed watching together!

When Shea got up, the cousins came over to play for a bit and I made some enchiladas out of leftovers for dinner.  They were delicious.  After that we sat and watched a random cartoon together, I made some cookies and cocoa, and then Shea took a bath and headed to bed.  I was able to get so much done today, and yet feel like I hardly did anything!  The house is cleaned, almost all the laundry is done, and I got to enjoy time with a friend and see my husband today!  Plus Shea had so much playtime with other kids and outside that I know he had a good day too.

I'm debating whether I am going to go to my Zumba class tomorrow or not.  I want to go, but I kind of don't want to have to rush off to it in the morning, because I have to go straight to work and then will be gone all day.  Plus, Jeremy hurt his eye today and has some kind of weird sinus swelling or something around his eye because of it, so I don't know if he'll be up to watching Shea in the morning.

Oh, and my mom called me and told me that my dad is staying over night at the hospital tonight.  I guess he had a "mini-stroke" (or TIA) at work and so they sent him to the hospital.  I guess he couldn't talk.  He said he could think and knew what he wanted to say, but he couldn't say it and it was really scary.  Apparently a TIA doesn't leave an permanent print on scan and the symptoms don't stay permanently (like when my mom had a stroke and she still has trouble with the left side of her body), but they are keeping him overnight to run more tests, since a TIA is usually a sign that there is a bigger problem.

It is strange to see my parents having strokes.  Especially after both Jeremy's maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother passed away in the last month (although, they are both much older than my parents, of course).

Anyway!  Just felt like posting.  I'll have to include more pictures of all of my house projects next time.  We still haven't taken a belly pic, either!  Jeremy wasn't feeling well today, so I didn't really make him do it.

  1. The book you made is adorable, and an awesome idea. That's awesome you get to make it for free! I love freebies! It sounds like you have been super busy, but awesome you still have time for playdates, family and zumba

  2. I love Shea, he has the cutest expressions! I made a photo book for our wedding album, they are the best! I have used Shutterfly for photo calendars for Christmas gifts-they turn out really cool.
