I am happy for morning and to be feeling good (despite a major headache from no sleep I had this morning...almost gone, though). We've had a busy few days! My friend Mia and her son Devin, somewhat last minute, decided to drop in for a visit on Sunday. I always love it when they come over. She's kind of like hanging out with an older sister. She always brings us clothes for Shea that her son has outgrown, and she even brought a couple Christmas presents for Shea and gave me a gift card to target. Such a sweetie! I had to bake cookies for my cookie exchange, so I did that while we chatted in the kitchen for a couple of hours. Then in the evening, we made gingerbread houses up at the church.
Here are the cookies I made (snowflakes) and the plate I ended up with after the party (there were 7 different kinds of cookies - all so yummy! And there were more on the plate, but what do YOU think I had for breakfast this morning? I know, bad.) My little "gingerbread" house is below (Shea helped me with it), and then I made these snow globe things I saw on pinterest. I got some of those fake trees and snow from Joann's (cost me like 3 bucks) then hot glued the tree to the bottom of a lid to an old peanut butter jar. I added water and snowflakes and voila! A cute little cheap decoration. I wanted to get green trees, but they didn't have any in small packs.
So yesterday we had a busy day, as well! In the morning, I had a WIC appointment up in Silverdale and got weighed. Yikes, I was so nervous about this. I feel like my stomach is just HUGE - I should really post a picture for you - and was convinced I had gained like 7 or 10 pounds because I just feel so bloated all the time and definitely already have a bump. I was SO relieved when I saw that I had only gained 3 pounds. You're supposed to gain about 5 pounds the first trimester, and I'll be in my 2nd trimester right after Christmas, so I'm pretty much right on track. After that, we went shopping and headed home. My WONDERFUL husband did all the dishes, dried them, and put them away! He helped me hang up a curtain rod in the living room (so at least one window doesn't have those horrible blinds), and clean the rest of the house. And I was so tired. Lately I haven't been getting enough sleep, because I come home from work late and then stay up talking to Jeremy or catching up on things. Let's just say that 7:30 (or in today's case, 6:30) when Shea gets up comes VERY early.
I wish I had taken some pictures at the party. It was so fun though! 6 ladies came - all from the church, except one. I got a chance to get to know the wife of a new couple who just started coming to our church, and we all just sat around chatting. One of the ladies found out I was pregnant from my sister-in-law, and after it came out in conversation, she went to her car and came back with a gift for me. It was a little nest with two eggs in it that she made! Isn't that just the sweetest little thing ever?
Oh and that picture of the pitcher is my new favorite drink. Cold brew Twinnings green tea with mint. Its instant, cold, and TEA. I think some of the best unsweetened tea I've had. I haven't really been into drinking hot things since I've been pregnant. Don't know why, just one of those weird aversions.
And some random pictures. Shea coloring and exploring with his baby (notice the binoculars).
And these are his 2 year pictures that my sister in-law took (at least, my favorite two). We tried to get family pictures too, but uuuh, I look like a total freak in the ones that Shea is smiling in, and the rest he is pouting or turning away from the camera. So we'll have to try again. I really want to get one in time to get it printed and framed for my mom for Christmas. She has been begging us for a nice family portrait for a couple of years now, so I want to try and make that happen.
Well thank you girls for allowing me to share my life with you! What are YOU doing today? :)
Today I went shooting in the mountains! I was bribed by the fact that I could pick whatever else Paul and I will do together on the rest of our two days off. :)
ReplyDeleteBecca I love Shea's pictures, he is adorable! The eggs in a nest are so cute, and your cookies look amazing! I wish we all lived close and could bake together and share baked goods. I love to bake but don't love to have it all at my house, too temping! :)
AND I would LOVE to see a baby bump pic!
Oh and I want to try that tea now!
