Food, snow, cats, cleaning, everything.

I went crazy the other day and cooked my heart out. I made curry, spanish rice, 13 frozen burritos, shrimp pico de gallo, and pasta with meat sauce. It was so lovely to have all this food in the fridge, and Paul was happy too! (Eric helped me in the kitchen)
My kitties have been crazy in this weather. They were rubbing themselves all over my swim towel (though they always do this), staring at me when I got home from work, and cuddling in the bathtub when we had the fireplace on cause it was super warm.

I made this asian stir fry thing from a package and made potstickers to go along with them. I didn't end up liking the stir fry because it was quite spicy and Paul was happy cause he loved it! All I had to do was sautee some chicken, veggies (mushrooms and carrots) and add the packet of seasoning and water. Easy enough! Those potstickers on the other hand, totally delish!

I have been making myself so many caramel machiattos (hot and cold) since getting my stovetop espresso for Christmas, they have been lovely (and cheap!). I also buy coffee at church because it's so yummy! Oh, and those clothes on the floor? That is what happens when the kittens get into the closet. 10 shirts on the floor and full of hair. Gross.

This was the snow on Sunday, well we thought this was snow. If we only knew what was coming for us.

I ended up doing childcare because the person who was supposed to be with Amber didn't show up, so after church we went to her Oma's for lunch and then came back to my house for some tea and to listen to the sermon! It was a lovely afternoon. :)

Eleanor in her snuggle mood. I love it when I am warm snuggled up in bed with a kitty. Makes me so so happy and full of joy and warmth.

My cute hubby sleeping on the couch after a long day at work. :) And have you even seen Shawn the Sheep?! Well it is the cutest (kids) show ever but Paul and I love it. Our friend Sara saw this toy and thought of us. Love it! Paul worked till 4 am one morning doing out of stocks for a store in Burien and this is what I woke up to in the morning, an empty cake container. Haha. Someone was hungry when he got home!

My favorite secretary at work fell and hit her head, it split open and required staples. We had a bake sale for her and I made cake pops and rice krispies. I didn't go to the bake sale since I didn't work on the day they were having it, I just brought treats in early. Everybody was raving over how cute they are. It was really simple and fun to make and I was so glad I could contribute to the bake sale.

Yesterday (thursday) our power went out at 6:30am. I helped Paul get the car out of the garage and closed the door after him and then went back to bed. I was awake till 7:45 am then fell back asleep till 10am and it was freezing when I woke up! Our thermostat said 58 degrees...We have gas heat but you need electricity for the blower. So I turned on the gas fireplace and huddled by that. After going back and forth in my head I decided to head over to Amber's at about 12. I was there till about 8pm when Paul finally got home from work (after a 2.5 hour drive home). We hung out for a bit then decided to call Amber and Joe and see if we could stop by to charge Pauls phone since we still didn't have power. They said yes, we headed out, we got a call, they lost power. So back home...and...and...we finally had power! 15 hours later and we had power. We didn't lose any food from our fridge or freezer because the house was down to 53 degrees and the doors had been shut. It was a blessing.

While at Ambers (with Janae too!) we played Dominion, watched IRobot, made waffles, popcorn, and lots and lots of tea. It was wonderful.

This is what the trees looked like outside our house this morning, icy and laying on the roof, lovely. The ice has now melted but the tree is still on our roof. Paul and his dad will chop it down this weekend. There is also a tree laying in our backyard and about a million branches too.

See my poor little car at work? I spent 10 minutes scraping off freezing rain and then powered my way through the snow surrounding my car. Whole lot got plowed...except for by my car.

It was a beautiful (but very long almost hour) drive home. I was trying to look scared in the picture but I just look tired and ridiculous. It was 12:30am by this point.

Cuddly kitties in a cold house, how could they not?

I have been finding toys everywhere lately, and somethings that my kitties think are toys but aren't. My fishing line from the bottom drawer of Alex...really cats? And one morning I woke up to 5 toys laying outside my door. They were busy throughout the night apparently.

Eleanor LOVED the bathtub last night when we turned on the fireplace. The house was so cold (53 if you don't remember) and the kitties had been alone all day. They were so happy to see us and feel warmth.

And that my friends was my week. I work the weekend and on Monday and hopefully all this crazy winter storm weather is over with, since the hospital is on a hill and it is annoying to get to work in this weather!

  2. I heard about your crazy weather and loss of power! Glad you are warm and toasty again. Mmmm I'm going to have to make pot stickers this week. I'm craving them now, and they're on sale. I love that you have your caramel machiatto in a mason jar. Love your pictures and your post!
