saturday well spent

I scored a few new headscarves at Goodwill for 99 cents each (my recent obsession since I never want to wash my hair these days).  Don't you love our stenciled mirror in pink bathroom? I gotta paint that thing.

and some new wooden toys (check out that classic curious george!).

Stopped at Trader Joes to get some fruit and goodies for this weekend when my family comes.  Also got a new vase (sporting leftover flowers from my baby shower last Sunday), vintage mason jar (for 20 cents!), a dress from H&M (for after baby weight is gone, of course!), and another headscarf all for under $10 at the Goodwill.

Yesterday I sewed 8 new burp clothes (used microfiber washcloths I bought at Ross and backed one side with fabric to make them pretty).

And I wore my "new" shoes - also a thriftstore find earlier this week.  Got them for $3, pretty much brand-new from Express.  Loving wearing light canvas shoes!

Got to sleep in until 7:30 this morning (Shea usually wakes us up between 6 and 6:30 and its a fight to stay in bed later than 6:45)!  Made a pot of my new favorite stash tea: white peach wuyi oolong tea and put some mini scones into bake.  Then Jeremy found the live stream of the new Avatar Korra episode online, and Shea woke up just in time to watch it with us.  Its the one sort of cartoon show that I like (probably only watch because Jeremy likes it though).  We drank some tea, and then afterward had our scones with some scrambled eggs.  yum.

After fixing Hailey's bedding and puttering around the house a little bit, we got dressed for the day and went out to Silverdale to go shopping.  We went to Goodwill, Trader Joe's, Costco (so excited to have our membership again!), Old Navy, and Joann.  All successful shopping trips, and back in time for nap!  Shea is still sleeping, and I got to sleep for about 30 minutes, which definitely refreshed me enough for the day!  Jeremy is up at the church working, and now that it is a little nicer out, we're hoping to go for a hike somewhere nearby or do something outside after Shea is up from his nap.

Yesterday was sooo beautiful out!  Shea and I ran some errands in the morning (finally got all the stuff together for the birth - I put the carseat in the car, packed hospital bags just in case, and got all the home birth supplies ready.  I even lucked out and found our birth plan from Shea still saved on the computer, so I don't have to write another one...although, my midwife doesn't really need it so much, and hospitals generally laugh at birth plans since the whole reason I would end up in a hospital is because things are NOT going according to my plan, but anyway, at least I have one I guess - ha that was a bit of a ramble) and I painted Hailey's dresser and got it set up in the room.  OHMYGOODNESS I am in love with it.  I got some fabric today to make a panel to cover the missing drawer, and after I finish that I'll have to take a picture and show you.  I love their room.  Sometimes I just step in to look at it and get so excited to see Hailey in there soon!  I have been having a lot more contractions the last few days, and they are definitely starting to get more uncomfortable, but not regular or anything yet.  This could go on for the next 3 weeks, but its nice to know that my body is getting 'primed' to have this baby girl!

OH and on craigslist a local lady was giving away all of her cloth diapering inserts!  I was so freaking excited haha I went and picked them up, and I have way more than enough inserts...I washed all the diapers I made and pre-stuffed them.  Now I don't have to sew a bunch of inserts!  Plus she gave me like 4 diaper covers, so with the ones I made, I'll have like 10 covers, which should be more than enough to start with.  Things are coming together!     I can't believe how inexpensively we have been able to build up a supply of cloth diapers.  Sorry I am so excited about this - I feel like all I ever talk about on here is cloth diapers!!  I'm sure I won't be so excited when I am washing them all the time, except that I feel so blessed and happy to know that we can live so comfortably on what we have been given when we try and be resourceful!  I am feeling more ready for baby to come now, and Jeremy is a lot more at ease about being able to provide for us.  Life is good.

Happy Father's Day Weekend!

  1. I love all your awesome goodwill finds! Your headwrap is adorable and the perfect way to pull unwashed hair back, I am always using a headband, bobby pins and ponytail holders. :)

And I LOVE your new shoes, they are awesomely cute. Oh and the idea for the microfiber burp cloths is great.

    Awesome post as always.
